Maintenance Engineer

Main purpose of the job:

(Note: In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required).

To carry out maintenance work including TPM across the Plant, working in conjunction with the Maintenance Team Leader, to ensure the constant running of all Plant equipment and facilities.

Candidates should understand that this is a shift-based role.

Main objectives and results:

• Day to day maintenance of facilities and equipment that promotes maximum uptime and increased Mean-Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reduced Mean-Time to Repair (MTTR)

• Develop and deliver Preventative Maintenance Schedule within Pirana system

• Logging of all work undertaken as work orders within Pirana system

• Liaise with production team members to help ensure continued production and to improve professional standard of equipment / machinery.

• Immediate reaction to breakdowns

• Liaise with outside contractors as required ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety standards.

• Manage and maintain supply of spares.

• Maintain housekeeping through IPS disciplines.

• Support continuous improvement activities throughout the Plant (i.e. waste walk actions, Kaizen)

• Provide maintenance support within projects, as determined by the Management Team

• Support safety culture across the plant through raising and fixing of potential incidence.

• Fault finding and equipment development to promote increased uptime.

• Ensure compliance to ISO 14001 (Environmental) /18001 (H&S) Standards

• It is a requirement of the role to be seconded routinely into the Facilities Department to broaden ones understanding of all plant-based equipment / systems.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Candidates will be time-served multi-skilled Engineer, preferably certified to HND / degree level.

• 18th Edition (BS7671) advantageous but practical experience or alternative training will be considered.

• They must have proven experience of maintenance, preferably within a high volume, automotive manufacturing environment.

• They must have solid electro-mechanical maintenance knowledge with proven experience in dealing with complex manufacturing equipment (welding and automated assembly) including robot and PLC programming.

• Candidates must be PC literate, have excellent organisational and communication skills as well as a strong sense of urgency and an ability to work under pressure. They must be confident decision makers and proactive problem solvers, with a hands-on approach.

• Competent and experienced within a high-volume automotive environment, coupled with the ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.

• Lock out Tag out (LOTO) understanding, formal training an advantage.

• Knowledge of DC tooling, Barcode Scanning, Material handling, Electrical testing, and Vision systems advantageous.

• Competency in welding and fabrication, preferably with formal qualification

• Previous experience of equipment to assist with working at height, MEWPS

• Knowledge of plastic welding also advantageous including Heat Stake and Ultrasonic
