Lead Material and Packaging Flow Coordinator

Main purpose of the job:
Leads the internal movement of components, packaging, raw materials, and finished goods through the processing cycle to meet customer demand requirements. Creates plant lean material flow standards, to include:

  • Physical material flow from receiving, to the production lines and to shipping.
  • Material handling equipment solution standards.
  • Storage capacity, design/layout, purchased part & finished goods warehouse, work-in-process & lineside storage solutions.
  • Warehouse management solutions.

The Lead Material Flow Coordinator will work cross-functionally with Program Management, plant Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and IT.


    Main missions and results:
    • Plans, organizes, and conducts activities within its area in an effective manner towards achieving common objectives of IAC Elmdon as well as the IAC Group.
    • Reports deviations from the standard and takes corrective actions.
    • Take action to achieve KPIs.
    • Maintain IAC Packaging Portal with future and current packaging requirements.
    • Plan and organise packaging repair as required, maintain information flow with customers and suppliers.
    • Material handling standards scope is greenfield sites, new programs, product transfers and continuous improvement.
    • Define the material flow deliverables to be incorporated in the IAC program development and launch process (GDLS):

    • Roles and activities for key resources.
    • Requirements for milestone/gate closure.
    • Define KPIs and acceptance thresholds.
    • Participate in program management milestone/gate reviews.

    • Collaborate cross-functionally to define the warehouse management system (WMS)
    standard(s) to be implemented across all IAC manufacturing facilities globally:

    • Integration with MES and ERPs.
    • Training.

    • Lead the IAC manufacturing facilities through lean material flow continuous improvement
    initiatives:

    • Define material flow gaps to standard.
    • Define the continuous improvement roadmaps.
    • Identify cost saving opportunities.
    • Determine priorities.
    • Work with finance for budget approval to execute the priorities.
    • Track and monitor plant progress.

    • Act as the Corporate Subject Matter Technical Expert (SMTE) for material flow activities:

    • Support program management onsite for milestone/gate reviews.
    • Support the plants onsite with defining gaps to standard, defining continuous
      improvement roadmap and priorities.
    • Assist plant industrial engineers to achieve standard material flow objectives as
      required.

    Preferred skills and experience:
    • Comprehensive experience within a complex manufacturing, global fast paced environment, preferably automotive.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial manufacturing, mechanical engineering from an accredited university and preferably a supply chain related professional qualification.
    • Previous manufacturing plant experience, particularly relating to product launch.
    • In depth knowledge of process and material flow and application of Lean principles (minimum green belt).
    • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Office/Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.
    • Functional expertise in Packaging and Containerization disciplines.
    • Project management skills.
    • Travel required 20% – 30% of the time.
    • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
    • Team oriented with a strong drive for results.
    • Should be conversant with automotive quality tools and systems, including IATF16949.
    • Excellent organisational and communicational skills as well as a strong sense of urgency and an ability to work under pressure.
    • Confident decision maker and proactive problem solver, with a hands-on approach.
