Summary:

Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor/Team Leader, performs various product and process audits of production and assembly operations. Works with Quality Manager, Quality Engineers, and Production Associates and others to maintain quality and conformance on all parts. Follows established procedures for processing nonconforming products and/or materials. Must be able to manage stress, make informed decisions and while working in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  1. Plan, promote, and participate in activities to support safety and quality.
  2. Participate as a Trainer when needed.
  3. Perform quality audits of product and processes for compliance to defined standards.
  4. Approve 1st piece samples for each job.
  5. Provide guidance to production operators in regards to the following: (a) in-process quality inspections, (b) use of inspection fixtures and gages, (c) other quality-related issues.
  6. Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming product. This includes the completion of nonconformance reports (NCR's) and decision-making regarding acceptance/rejection of product.
  7. Control input and output from the Hold Cage on their respective shift.
  8. Assist in the training of new/transferred associates on their respective shift in regards to Quality topics.
  9. Provide guidance to any personnel performing rework or sorting of product on their respective shift.
  10. Take a leading role in resolving quality concerns on their respective shift through the use of cross-functional teams.
  11. Ongoing communication with the production Supervisors and Team Leaders.
  12. Any additional tasks as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor or Team Leader.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED. Experience as a Quality Auditor in an automotive manufacturing is a plus.

Skills:

  1. Must have an understanding of the injection molding process and assembly processes.
  2. Must have good analytical skills.
  3. Must have good written and verbal communication.
  4. Must be skilled in various problem-solving methods including: 8D, 5-Why, 5P, etc.
  5. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  6. Must be detail-oriented.
  7. Excellent organization skills.
  8. Willingness to work overtime with minimal notice.
  9. Basic Knowledge of SPC methodology.
  10. Must be able to manage stress, make informed decisions, and take personal responsibility while working in a fast-paced environment.
